Playa Contramar

Zihuatanejo Bay is ringed by five main beaches, or playas as they are known in the local language. Playa La Ropa and Playa Las Gatas receive most of the attention in my journal, combining for almost 250 of my 2,800+ entries, but there are three other beaches that are accessible to visitors. Playa Contramar is the least popular of the primary beaches, partly because it is all rocks and partly because it is hard to reach. It took me 20 minutes to paddle across the bay from my very popular beach to this seldom visited one. I was rewarded for my efforts with the opportunity to capture this five image panorama in the early morning light.
