Surprise!!

What a surprise today, my son was back from a 3-week holiday in Costa Rica. It was a gift to himself after finishing a Masters degree. He loved it and had a blast surfing until it hurt.

We had a scare while he was there though. We didn't exactly know his whereabouts and when the earthquake happened on Jan 8, we didn't know where he was exactly but knew that it was in the general vicinity of it. The thing is that I didn't know there had been an earthquake until Sunday when his girlfriend called me to say she didn't hear from him since then. I made several phone calls to different Hostels in the area and finally we heard from them as they were in Tamarindo with no knowledge of a quake.

Next incident. On the eve of their departure from San Jose, Jean had everything, except his camera, his passport and the clothes he had on, stolen. Unfortunately, several memory cards were not with his camera and thousands of pictures are lost forever. The rest can always be replaced but pictures...

Anyhow, he arrived here in short pants and barefoot in sandals (hence the picture above)!! He had nothing else. I don't have to remind you that there is 4 feet of snow here and the temperature is in the minus 20s.
