Riverlog 2012 - Lower Elwha River Logjams

Construction season is quickly wrapping up with the onset of fall rains in Western Washington. The Lower Elwha restoration project is our last remaining project for this year still be constructed and is looking great. The logjams being constructed are our newest generation of engineered logjams designs and incorporate a woven architecture, a "catchers mit" to trap debris, and can accommodate 135degrees of flow direction. While it may look pretty unorganized and chaotic, lots of design and planning goes into building engineered structures to be stable in such dynamic and powerful rivers.
