Priority: polish
This is the grand entrance to Christ Church Spitalfields. One of Nicholas Hawksmoor's monumental (but in my opinion rather soulless) churches.
I may be a bit jaundiced.
I was on my way to the National Hospital for Neurology with my daughter, whose epilepsy has recently become worryingly worse. Sufficiently so for us to travel up from Suffolk to have it looked at. She had had some seizures the day before which had caused damage to her shoulder and knee and was feeling very faint and dizzy, so we went into Christ Church as some kind of sanctuary. All the posters inside made a great deal of the church's interest in outreach and friendliness.
No nice solid pews to sit and rest in, only little flimsy chairs to fall off, so we sat on one of the window seats where I encouraged her to put up her leg and rest it..
Bad move. Immediately we were approached by an officious soul who wanted her to put her leg down (despite the circumstances, and although she was in no way dirty). "Because of the polish.'
So we went out and sat on the steps instead.
They clearly prioritise polish over outreach.
