Same old road rage

On the way into the office a vehicle started drifting into our path, at which we exclaimed surprise, looked bemused and the vehicle corrected itself so that it didn't hit us. A common state of affairs on the world's roads, but no one was harmed, so off we went on our merry way.

It's a regular experience the world over, in pretty much any scenario, for the perpetrator of something clearly wrong (such as nearly driving into someone else) to react with his or her own aggression and escalate situations, perceiving that the affected party would be doing the same, even if he or she wasn't. The driver and passenger of the car overtook us in a threatening gesticulating manner as if it had been us who nearly crashed into them. We hadn't done anything other than glance in the direction of the car veering into our path, so their reaction was some sort of base animal instinctual embarrassment resulting from driving so incompetently.

Why is communication between human beings so flawed at times? Pride and aggression are such destructive traits.

This is Tubman Boulevard, scene of the same old road rage, and with a view from my hotel room.
