A Knitted Monarch and a Circus
M, B and I went to Norwich today to see ‘Cirque Beserk’ at the Theatre Royal. They were excellent, a most entertaining mix of jugglers, tumblers, acrobats, clowns and daring motor bike riders. They created an exciting atmosphere with smoke, music and costumes. It really was a fab show. No photos though, it was way to dark in the theatre for my little compact camera.
In case you were wondering how this relates to my photo? Before the theatre M and I went along to the ‘Makers Month’ exhibition in The Forum. This has been an exhibition of crafts, in particular knitting and embroidery and members of the public who have visited have had the opportunity to give some of the skills a go. There was a painting life class going on as well, with many people reproducing the young man in military uniform and an older gentleman dressed in Scottish traditional dress in pencil and paints.
This knitted replica of our queen in her coronation robes (which by the way was almost life size) was made by a crafting group in Norfolk for this event. The queen has been crafted out of knitted strips, fabric painted emblems, crocheted leaves, beads and threads of many kinds. The facial features have been needle felted.
The extra is the remains of the afternoon tea we all had at The Assembly House in Norwich just before our visit to the theatre.
A very enjoyable day indeed.
