Looe

Today is the start of our holiday! The Minx and miniMinx set off yesterday, stopping off at a B&B on the way down, but Abi, Dan, and I set off this morning at eight o'clock. Abi settled herself in the back with an iPad full of things to watch while Dan and I sat in the front to chat and listen to music.

And it was a hugely pleasant journey; none of the anticipated traffic delays took place and, allowing for three pitstops, including lunch, we made the journey in six hours.

Looe, it transpires, is a wonderful little place; all shops and cafés and winding streets, including the winners of both the 2013 and 2017 World's Best Cornish Pasty competition. It's obviously popular, too, with two large car parks that I reckon are bigger than the town centre itself. (Maybe this is how Kirkby Lonsdale will end up.)

And the accommodation that the Minx found is wonderful, with a large open plan living room on the first floor that overlooks the river.

In the evening we went out to grab some food but all of the little restaurants, some with only four or five tables, were fully booked, but fortunately we found a pub with a table for five and, happily, some very good food!
