Cathedral stained glass window
Weather not too good again so we decided to go to our county town, Chelmsford.
After doing some shopping we walked to the Cathedral and then along the river back to the car.
The Cathedral of St Mary, St Peter & St Cedd is the second smallest in the country and one of the few to also be a parish church. It became a cathedral in 1914 but parts date back to early 1400's. The 15th century porch was greatly enriched in 1953 by the American window which is a memorial to taks and friendships shared when US forces were stationed in Essex during World War 2. The window depicts the stars and stripes, the arms of the US airforce and those of George Washington who was the great, great grandson of a rector of Essex. This is todays blip.
Have good weekend all
