Rainy day

Pretty heavy rain today prevented us from having a bonfire in the garden. Instead Rob and I went to Gait Barrows to check on the Lady's Slipper Orchids. They are very vulnerable to slug damage at this time of year, and there are already several noses peeking through. As we were passing we had a look in Beetham Nurseries for possible herbaceous perennials for the border, but vey disappointed. The plant area has been seriously reduced in favour of a vast new shopping mall, presumably for Chinese tat. They don't seem to grow plants any more.
I spent the afternoon working on the gift for Canadian cousin Barbara, and finished the first piece of cushion. Should have it done soon, which is a good thing as the holiday is not so far off now!
