Ilklian Rose Carving
Joyous running this morning, blue sky, clear, cold and the autumn colours are awesome.
I ran past the Swastika stone carving here photographed. This is a bronze age carving - so more recent than the cup and ring markings that can be found on rocks across the moors in these parts. There is a similar carving in Val Camonica ,Italy. Here it is called Rosa Camuna. Given more contemporary associations with the name, I'm all for a bit of rebranding.
So it would appear that there was some link between Italy and Ilkley before the Romans arrived or Toni openned his cafe at the Cow and Calf. (assuming you don't hold to the aliens did these carvings theory - which I don't).
