Trip Boat

The first full day of conference.  On the way I detoured slightly by Gas Street Basin and caught the trip boat appearing from under Broad Street.  I say Broad Street but the road is actually where the curved arch is.  The rest before the arch is restaurant.

A long day culminating in the General Secretary's address ending around 9:00 pm.  During the day we covered such subjects as "teachers' mental health and well being, the public sector pay cap & discrimination against older teachers.

One of the highlights (or sometimes low lights) of conference are the tales of personal experience from the speakers from the floor.  The debate on public sector pay cap had some particularly harrowing stories of children coming to school hungry, teachers spending their own money to feed children and the necessity of food banks.
