Old Bat

OOOO - look at those frocks!

Spent the morning in the National Portrait Gallery with a pal. Although it's my favourite haunt in Edinburgh, it made a huge difference going round with someone who'd grown up here - telling me tales about the people, and knowing the geography of the places shown on the maps, old photos and paintings. Her dad had gone to a school that had originated as one of Guthrie's ragged schools.

What I do find odd is trying to go to the cafe on the left as you go in the front door, when it is now on the right.

And say what you like against the tram works, having no traffic outside the gallery makes it a much more peaceful experience. But my eye was taken by this scene as we came out.
