Short and Sweet

'I've really caught you at it this time!'

Startled I had been so absorbed in getting 'the shot' that I hadn't heard 'Wendy' (she was very friendly) standing over and behind me. I was in Overbury churchyard and it was a beautifully crisp, clear sunny morning.

But, first off, my apologies to Mr & Mrs Allen respectively on whose gravestone I was sprawled full length at this point- comfy, dry and great for balancing the camera. Half an hour later Wendy and I spookily discovered that not only had she been born just down our lane, knew neighbours old and new in Tewkesbury but also she had spent time in Sandal in Yorkshire and knew the school I had been to. She did say she wished she had had a camera on her, to which I replied with relief, 'Thank goodness you don't!!'

The church porch was made in commemoration of the Great War and it was on looking at that I saw the cyclamen peeking though the autumn leaves all round the Allen gravestone. They positively invited me to take a few pictures but I was not stopping there for the long haul just yet. Short and sweet - just like the cyclamen!
