You Can't Beat Free

 The 64 team NCAA basketball tournament is divided into 4 regions...1 through 16 in each bracket. Over the years, in 135 games, no 16 seed has EVER beat a number one seed.

So, the Little Caesars pizza chain was pretty confident when they made this claim: If a 16 seed beats a 1 seed...we'll give free pizza to everyone. Uh oh. #16 UMBC (University of Maryland-Baltimore County) beat #1 Virginia in the first round. Which means...which means...FREE PIZZA! And...today was the giveaway.

My son Jeff sent me a text to remind me. It was taking place from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. 90 minutes.

I went...just to take a picture of the madness. But, there were only 25 people in line. So, I waited for 15 minutes to get my 5 dollar lunch combo. 4 slices and a soda. I got my lunch, and headed out the door. But, Mark the mailman was driving by, so I offered the pie to him. (He refused, but I could tell he really wanted it.) I insisted, and he took it. So then...what to do?

I took my picture, and got back in line...this time with 50 people in it. 30 minutes later (good thing that I'm retired), and I was enjoying my free lunch. (Actually, I ate two pieces, and took two to Lisa.)

What would be the perfect ending to my free pizza story? My Michigan Wolverines would win tonight's championship game. But...with 3 minutes left in the game...we are trailing Villanova University by 20 points. They were just TOO good.
