Saturday: Alice Lake
We left Campbell River just after breakfast and drove the beautiful road, further north, to Bear Cove, just south of Port Hardy. Port Hardy itself is not much at all, a very sleepy town that is really just the gateway to the ferries that service Prince Rupert, a sailing of some 8 hours or so. Bear Cove is not really a place either - just a bunch of holiday cabins. And that's why we're here - we staying in a lovely secluded wooden cabin with beautiful views out over the Georgia Straight.
On the way there, we stopped off in Telegraph Cove - a wonderfully preserved historical town which we had to ourselves.
This afternoon we took a drive to Port Alice, again more the journey than the destination. We came across Alice Lake (a place - not a person!) - the water was so still and mirror like it was more like looking an optical illusion.
We had a lovely home cooked spaghetti in our cabin this evening and played some backgammon as well as Monopoly - I'd forgotten how interminably long that game was. We ended up calling it a night without no clear winner emerging.
(Wifi has been terrible, so am backblipping the trip)
