Forsythia
Our neighbour's Forsythia is about at its peak now and looking as spectacular as it always does at this time of year. It's yet another of those shrubs that look fairly nondescript for eleven months of the year and then burst into a magnificent display of colour for 2-3 weeks before subsiding again into quiet greenery. As the year progresses this one sprawls across the top of our garden shed so each spring has to be cut back after flowering, before it takes over the bottom of the garden.
On a sunny day with blue sky as a contrast Forsythia in bloom looks joyous. The forecast suggests the weather will improve in a few days, so I'm hoping to see it at its best then. But a grey day isn't bad for showing off the colour either.
