White Cheeked Eastern Rosella
Today we put out our makeshift birdfeeder for the first time with some bird seed in it - and yes, I managed to snap these two gorgeous creatures sitting on the fence checking it out. They didn't venture down to it though - I think it may need some renovations! Maybe a perch closer to where the seed is so they actually have something stationary to sit on to sit on - I have mentioned it to the MOH so we'll see what happens:) So far so good - early indications are that it may just work.
Sorry I haven't been able to comment much the last couple of days but blip is still rather unreliable and keeps freezing on me so I am just quickly blipping this while I can.
EDIT - BUT WAIT, THERE'S MORE! So I have added it to my Blipfolio here:
It's working!!!! Very excited:)
First I noticed one bird had come back and sat on the fence, then his friend joined him. Then one flew over to the stick/perch, then slowly the other one joined him. Then the first one flew down onto the dish but the other one was rather shy and took a while to fly over to the perch. She (I think it's a she) then very tentatively tried out the chain a few times but kept going back to the perch. Finally she figured out how to climb down the chain and feed from there. But now both are happily sitting on the bowl feeding their little faces like mad. I'm now very happy (yes, I know, it doesn't take much these days).
