Leithen Water
Apparently this is my 1000th entry, which I didn't realise when I took it so I'm glad it isn't a crap blurry emergency blip!
Today was the 200 km Scottish Borders Randonnee, and what amazing weather we had. We ended up riding the 'snow edition' as one of the roads which goes high and steep was still closed after the snow several weeks ago. However it lost nothing by taking this slightly tamer route, and we still had a couple of icy spots where the sun couldn't reach the road, and there were plenty of patches of snow at the roadside. Lots of lumpy surfaces and epic potholes; yet another break in my rear mudguard, it's now more gaffer tape than anything else.
I greatly enjoyed riding the A708 from Selkirk to Moffat; having done it twice the other way it's amazing how different it is when the previously slow bits are fast and vice versa. My absolute favourite bit though was this bit of road heading north out of Innerleithen, again ridden in the opposite direction before (on London-Edinburgh-London). The blip is looking south back the way I've come, with Leithen Water/Glentress Water snaking along the small valley bottom.
