Museu Oscar Niemeyer - MON
Oscar Ribeiro de Almeida Niemeyer Soares Filho (Rio de Janeiro, December 15, 1907-Rio de Janeiro, December 5, 2012) was a Brazilian architect.
A follower and great promoter of Le Corbusier's ideas, he is considered one of the most influential figures in modern international architecture. He was a pioneer in the exploration of the constructive and plastic possibilities of reinforced concrete.
Among its main architectural projects is the construction of Brasilia as the new capital of its country during the 1960s. Niemeyer was the main responsible of some iconic public buildings in the city, such as the National Congress of Brazil, the Cathedral of Brasilia, the palace of Planalto and the Palácio da Alvorada. He was also one of the main responsible for the team that designed the Headquarters of the United Nations Organization in New York.
