Underneath the arches.

We left the house this morning at 7 o'clock, as J wanted to visit an auto jumble in Ross-on-Wye.  I wasn't too happy, but managed not to moan, well not much anyway. It didn't help matters that we set off in the rain, and it was still raining when he dropped me off.  The town has some great buildings, but due to the rain, I didn't take as many photos  as I would have liked.  I went for a coffee, just to get out of the rain, and to warm me up. My main photo is of the Market House, or Town Hall, dated 1893. They usually set up a few stalls outside, but there were none today, obviously due to the bad weather. The extra is taken from the back , looking down the main street. Within an  hour of arriving, J phoned to say, that he was ready, as a lot of the stalls were packing up and going home. He picked me up, and we decided to drive down the Wye Valley, which is longer, but very  picturesque. The road runs alongside the River Wye for most of the way, and the river was very swollen and muddy. We stopped off for a snack at the Old Station, but it was closed due to refurbishment, but there was a mobile catering van instead. We had coffee, and bacon rolls, and the quality was excellent. The bacon was "proper" bacon, and he asked if we wanted the fat trimmed off, or not. Not very often you get asked that. We did meet some heavy traffic on the way home, and it was stop start for a few miles.   Nice to be home, and I think it will be an early night.
