Through a glass darkly

I was about to head for home after a soggy patrol, but decided that the hailstones which suddenly slammed down were a bit too CAPRICIOUS for safe driving, so I stayed where I was for a few minutes.  With thanks to Ingeborg for hosting Abstract Thursday.
