Bantry Airport
A quick trip to Bantry to sort out finances and home via Bantry International Airport to admire the cloudage - and there was snow on the peaks inland. You didn't know about the airport? I lie about the International bit but small planes do nip in occasionally. Once we stayed to watch a tiny plane venture in. A man complete with Mickey Mouse earphones and the wand thingie appeared from nowhere and started making the appropriate gestures. The plane took several attempts to land - the crosswinds are fierce apparently - and there's a white line on the ground that if you go past means there's no chance of landing anywhere but the sea. A small crowd had gathered, walkers, dog owners, the frankly curious and as the plane wobbled in we all caught our breaths, and broke into applause as he landed on the tarmac just inside the white line! Rather him than me. All calm down there today - see extra
A spot of cleaning for we are offering bed and board to Tough Soles over the next few days. This intrepid young couple are attempting to hike every walking trail in Ireland and are aiming to do the Sheep's Head over Easter. They're currently high in the snowy hills surrounding Gougane Barra.
And thanks so much for all the love for my eccentric window yesterday, very much appreciated.
