Brain power

Quite a lot of it. 65 retired Professors of the University of Manchester having their annual reunion lunch. Plus me. Although I was not a Professor I was for 15 years the chief academic administrator and am therefore fortunate to be invited to the event.

Not many women as you can see. But at least the present President and Vice-Chancellor, who before lunch addressed us about the state of the university, is Dame Nancy Rothwell.

As I have been retired for 25 years it is getting to the stage where just under half of those present were ones I knew well. But it is still a very enjoyable occasion. It was held in the University’s Whitworth Hall which brings back many memories of degree ceremonies.
