Attingham Park

I love visiting NT properties and a friend coming to stay is the perfect excuse to return.

Today we went to Attingham Park, near Shrewsbury. A fascinating house in a marvellous park. The weather was iffy - we were caught in a hailstorm near the river but fortunately it was quite late.

Going round the house is always fascinating. Such a varied history, and the guides are very good.

We were a bit hungry by the time we got to the kitchen, so we did try their authentic Welsh cakes, smoky flavour from the traditional cooking method. But we weren’t allowed to try the other dishes on display......
