tabasco...

...and Tasmania?

Perhaps not the first combo that comes to mind but whenever I see a bottle of Tabasco on a shelf it is!
When we first arrived in Australia Tasmania was home for our geological family for three years.
One of the camps was in the southwest where 'Tabasco Pete' ruled the kitchen with a very liberal shake in most of his dinner menus.
No 'milder or smoky' flavours 30 +years ago but the flagship red variety still very low on the 'Scoville Scale' of heat at a gentle 2500-5000SHU compared to the ridiculous maximum 3,200,000.

Bottles of Tabasco bearing the Presidential seal are served on Air Force One and the McIlhenny, the family company who first produced Tabasco in Louisiana in 1868 is one of the few American companies to be granted a 'royal warrant of appointment' a designated supplier to The Queen.

Tabasco Pete would be well chuffed!
