Sir Hans Sloane
Today my niece and I visited the British Museum, a short stroll from our hotel. Today's blip is of Sir Hans Sloane, when he died in 1753 his collections of artefacts and drawings were purchased by the Government and became the start of the British Museum and the Natural History Museum - and the reason I chose to blip Sir Hans? Well, he was born in Killyleagh, where I now live. The other, possibly more important, fact about Sir Hans, is that he invented milk chocolate! He added milk to the bitter cocoa drink he had been offered, and so milk chocolate was born ☺ (can't remember where he was when given the bitter chocolate, I think the West Indies, but I really couldn't swear to it!)
