Frozen

"Hold fast to dreams For when dreams go Life is a barren field Frozen with snow."
Langston Hughes

Decided to make the journey back to Ledbury on Sunday night to be closer for the morning call-time, the prospect of early morning icy roads didn't appeal to me.  Journey was ok, although snow drifs partially covered the roads between Ledbury and Bosbury.  The photo is the morning view from my window across the orchard, some more snow overnight but not enough to cause any problems.  Main hazard will be ice - oh, and a learner scooter driver coming towards me in the middle of the road, wobbling frantically in the hazardous conditions.  It's normally a 20 minute drive to set so I've allowed 45 minutes - just as well; as I turn into the parking area the wheels start spinning on the icy access track, heavily rutted and troughed after three weeks heavy traffic.  Two security guys get their shoulders to the back and the engine is screaming with wheels spinning wildly - all to the amusement of the female security guard who's laughing her socks off and shouting encouragement?!  Even when I get into the field I can see it's not going to be any easier, there's a large 4x4 towing cars out of the top field already!  We're directed instead to drive across the fresh snow onto the grass field, which is waterlogged underneath the frozen crust - they'll think about getting us out later.
