Mary of Sorrows

Today is the Friday of Sorrows here in San Miguel, when Mary is honored with altars in homes, windows, streets and fountains. Thousands of people wander the historic area visiting the altars this evening.

It's a combination of solemn devotion and community gathering to begin the religious activities of holy week. It is also a big tourist event here that is thankfully put up with by the locals.
