Bolt

As I’ve reported we are having some extensive work done on our house. I managed to call in during daylight after a check up at hospital. In the back garden - or rather the rear building site - I came across the back door to the side of the house.

I realised with a touch of sadness that I will not be using the mechanisms again. No doubt the replacement door will have one of these more modern locks. However, I will miss the routine of locking the Chubb, turning the big old lock and sliding the bolt across. It became second nature after taking the rubbish out, letting the dog out and before going away on holiday.

No doubt we will develop new routines over time. But I’ll still miss the comfort of the procedure.

Otherwise the day was less crowded with meetings -though I did meet up with one of the digital stakeholder groups. And also had a meeting with some colleagues from Glasgow.
