White Velvet
When I came into the kitchen this morning to make my tea, I almost picked up what I thought was a piece of paper lying on the counter. Upon closer inspection I realized that it was a moth -- only about 1" long, and sitting perfectly still. It is almost completely white, with just a couple of tiny black markings on its wings, and the most elegant black and white striped antennae. It is so fuzzy it looks like it is made out of velvet, but when I looked online to see what type of creature this was, I discovered it is called the White Satin Moth (Leucoma salicis). Mighty fuzzy satin, if you ask me.
