Strawberry Fields

These fields, which are so close to my house, reminded me today of a children's book I translated  back in 2010 called:
Side by Side/Lado a lado: The Story of Dolores Huerta and Cesar Chavez/La historia de Dolores Huerta y César Chávez by Monica Brown.
The story is about the movement they lead together to motivate farm workers to fight for their rights and against dangerous pesticides. The sign you see here says exactly that: Protect yourself from the pesticides. This is part of our surroundings, in Irvine, California. I love the beauty and openness of the fields but I'm aware of the hard work they require.
