Sir Robert Hart Talk

That was the difference - a lecturer in history was invited to give a public talk on Sir Robert Hart and it was the first time to see such a full attendance. Set 30 tickets (free) for the first week and 29 were booked. So I added another 10 and registration number went up to 39!

Sir Robert Hart is an important historical figure who was so closely related to Chinese late Qing Dynasty - colonization and modernization - also a greatly controversial debate from different political stance. More details on the project see here.

How I wished that all the rest talks, especially Chinese language taster sessions, had had such an attendance!

Will look to identify more topics and speakers that can help boost people's interest in culture and language learning.
