Thinning infected larch trees.
The young chainsaw operator had a really enthusiastic, professional attitude. We’d a good chat while he waited on a forest harvesting machine to finish in the block. He’d a good knowledge of safe working practice and what the client wanted. The latch trees are infected with tree disease phytophthora rascutum; there’s a big section on the Forestry Commission website about identifying the disease and what to do.
