Good news!

I had an eye test in Glasgow today. I felt sure that my sight had deteriorated since the last one, so, knowing that I have macular degeneration, I was a bit worried. Age-related macular degeneration is the commonest cause of blindness in older people.

The consultant a few years ago had said that treatment in the form of injections into the eye is available when the condition reaches a certain stage, but I'm in no hurry to have that!

However, the optician today said that there has been no deterioration, so I'm delighted! This is a photo of my eye - the little patches in the middle, called 'drusen', are the ones to worry about, but they haven't got any bigger or more numerous since my last test nearly two years ago.

Hooray!
