Wide Angle Wednesday - People

At some point, these will have people in them - although at the moment, the solitary teepee assembly person seems to be the only one around. Apparently the top hats, whilst not really original, keep the precipitation out of the hole in the top - a flaw that's otherwise a bit of an issue in the English weather.

These are being assembled for some sort of festival over the upcoming Easter Bank Holiday weekend. Seeing as we are due more snow, I don't think that I'll progress my enquiries any further !

Two technical notes today:

(1) Sensor seems to be absolutely fine after yesterday's cleaning and seems to be more or less dust spot free.

(2) This was shot with a decidedly different lens to usual, this is a West German 135mm f/2.8 Pentacon lens* - entirely manual and an M42 fit thus necessitating an adapter to go onto my Nikon. This has an interesting side effect that the lens cannot focus to infinity** ( the focal distance between the mount and the sensor is too great ) - but it seems to be absolutely brilliant for portraits ( which this clearly isn't - but more of that later ! ) it has a 15 blade aperture which is a triumph of engineering to watch, and, for a lens that I think is older than I am, operates very smoothly indeed.

* Bought from the Oxfam Online Shop. Whatever you may have read in the press recently, a few bad apples in an organisation should not, and indeed must not, undermine the amazing work done by so many in Oxfam. I've worked with them first hand, and the dedication, skill and integrity of every single person I came in contact with is beyond reproach. Please do consider them still for donations, and, have a look at the online shop where there is a range of photographic goods ready for you to take home at a very good price ( I got this lens for about 1/2 the comparable price on E-Bay for example ! ) ...

** you can get an adapter with a lens that fixes this, but all the reviews of these are terrible, and I've decided against bothering !
