Why did the Partridge Cross the Road?

This is one of an established escapee bird population in residence around the area and this is one of eight i spotted today. I had been about an hour trying to photograph them as they continually given me the slip. I had virtually given up when, driving back along the road, the group of eight were spotted. I quickly got out the car and started clicking. My luck was in!
