This is Oscar, a Spotted Sunfish. He's a native Florida fish and has lived peacefully with two other Sunfish and a 10 year old very large Goldfish and hundreds of little Gambusia aka Mosquito Fish. Oscar and his Sunfish friends were introduced into our pond probably 4 years ago and were very friendly, coming to the surface when someone visited them and eating out of my hand. This past winter, the Goldfish and two of the other Sunfish disappeared, most likely snatched by owls or Red-shouldered Hawks. I appreciate that all need to eat and that's life yada yada, but...I do miss my fishy friends. So I dedicate this blip to the departed and wish Oscar a continued long life.
