Borderline Shopaholic
Dear O’h dear and Lovely Tea Jenny,
So after feeling quite smug about taking one Mini Princess shopping yesterday and getting that out of the way, I had to go to Livingston shopping centre again. TWICE IN ONE WEEKEND.
Eldest Mini Princess didn’t have any walking boots and her jacket isn’t properly waterproof. With the bucket load of snow which came down last night, the prospect of her having freezing feet and being soggy was making me feel like a bad mother.
EMP shares my hatred of shopping. I find the best way to combat this is to feed her constantly. We started out shopping with lunch. She was chatting away and telling me that during the break in ‘Junior Strings’ practice at school, someone had cream cheese and breadsticks. EMP cannot abide cream cheese and aired this view. One of the other kids chipped in with ‘Ooh, I love cream cheese. It goes really well with smoked salmon’. I love teenage middle class chat. I don’t think I had even tried cream cheese or smoked salmon at that age. That would have been VERY fancy food. A step beyond the cheese and pineapple hedgehog. I suspect that the younger me wouldn’t have tried it. Lasagne and curry were adventurous in my youth.
Anyway, shopping went well and was mercifully quick. I bit the bullet and bought some work clothes which REALLY upsets me. I hate buying work clothes as it seems counter intuitive to spend money to be at work. I also don’t do business smart. I can’t do power dressing. I would have been rubbish in an office in the eighties. The only pads in my clothing are in my bras*.
