The Colibri Ensemble
It's Wednesday evening in Bellingham. This means one thing: singing and singing and singing for 3 straight hours. Pictured here is the brand new Colibri Ensemble. (boy, I never realized I was the shortest one of the bunch)
To date, we have around 10 luscious, mostly a cappella pieces, that we've been working on. We still have nearly 3 months to learn, polish, and memorize these pieces for our two late January performances. My guess is that it's going to take much more than our weekly rehearsals to accomplish this, but, we'll see.
Of these pieces, my favorites are the ones in French. Such a beautiful language, surely it was created just for singing?
Mille anges divins,
Mille seraphins,
Volent a l'entour
de ce grand Dieu d'amour
We've certainly got our work cut out for us, but it's a labor of love. If anyone out there is interested in getting a sample of the Colibri experience, complete with cheese, crackers, hors d'oeuvres, coffee, tea, wine and other beverages, all in the elegant ambience of Bellingham's Lairmont Manor, then set aside Wednesday evening, November 28th, 2012 and join us for "Wine, Women and Song".
