The Old Forge (Sunday 18th March 2018)

I woke up to a carpet of snow on Sunday morning and went out with my camera before the smooth surface was pitted by bird and cat prints, not to mention my own footprints. I was slightly surprised to see it as the previous day's snow had not settled. The overnight temperature had not been below freezing but it got progressively colder throughout the day.

The cold weather brought back at least one fieldfare and I also saw a brambling, a first for the garden, on the ground. I spent some time in the porch with a camera hoping to catch the brambling on the feeder, but caught only a few of the regulars: finches and blue tits.

Lozarhythm Of The Day:
The Temptations - Ain't Too Proud To Beg (1966)
Track recorded September 28, 1965 and assigned to Marvin Gaye; strings added November 12, 1965; re-assigned to the Temptations and their vocals dubbed in January 4 and 11, 1966.
My newest Motown set is a 4CD album of masters completed in 1966 but never released before, Motown Unreleased 1966, and it arrived on Friday. So far I have played the first two discs, full of gems by the Miracles, Brenda Holloway, Marvin Gaye, Four Tops, Gladys Knight and so forth with Motown at the top of its game.
This version of the Temptations big 1966 hit was rejected by the Quality Control team and so an incredulous producer, Norman Whitfield, was sent away to tweak the record and record new vocals, which he did the following day and then badgered Berry Gordy into making it the band's next single. It became their biggest UK hit to date.
