Bored
It was due to be a hot weekend, the summer had been long, we had already had a great holiday in Corfu in June. It was too hot to ride.
Looking for something to do, Angie had been glancing through the newspapers and horsey magazines to see if some event nearby to visit. Then she spotted an ad for a property claiming to be ideal for hobby horse riders and not all that far away. We had been having some vague thoughts about moving as our current house was in the middle of the village and was not always easy with the various animals we had eg free running chickens and geese.
Why don't we take a look? So she rang the number and found out the owners weren't there but we were more than welcome to take a look around, "simply jump over the gate", they said.
So we set off towards Lake Constance and eventually found the village. The directions were very clear and we had the house number (no SatNav back then) but we simply couldn't find it. Luckily had mobile phones and got the owners who repeated the instructions. I think we may have phoned once more but eventually we found it and as instructed clambered over the high gates.
We were amazed at the place, it looked ideal and had everything we wished for. But as I had tried to tell Angie before we even set out, it was a pointless exercise as the price was way outside our range.
As we walked around and in to the various barns and sheds, the first "we could use that....", "alter this...." "put the .....". But now sense in dreaming, it was not in our range.
And so we set off home and the questions and thoughts started again "but if we could....". No, no, not in our range.
The next day; Sunday meant we didn't have to go to work and concentrate on other matters "how about if....."
This chapter has a few more to follow.
