Quiet in the woods
Other than the usual assortment of dogs out with their owners for a daily walk, the trails in the park were very quiet today, as if all the animals had retreated into their nests and dens for an afternoon siesta. The ubiquitous deer weren't begging for the expected handout. The pileated woodpecker was nowhere to be seen or heard. It must have been the quiet before the storm...the 8-12 inches of snow predicted for the overnight hours and into tomorrow. Maybe the animals have a sixth sense about these things and don't need the TV meteorologist to sound the repeated warnings.
If you look closely at the sheen on the snow covered log, you'll have some idea about how frozen and slick the trails were today. I was thankful to complete the short walk without falling on my you-know-what.
Backblipped for yesterday : A busy, busy day!
