Erythronium
Today's the day ......................... for a setback
It really was just too bad - we woke up today to find everything covered with snow - again.
But fortunately, it didn't linger long and by the end of the morning, it had all but gone. Fortunately also, the low temperatures overnight and the snow didn't seem to have affected the Erythroniums that are just appearing in the rockery. There are lots of different varieties of these exotic-looking plants - also known as the fawn-lily, trout-lily, dog's-tooth violet, adder's-tongue. Some of them are pinky purple like this one and others are a pale yellow.
These ones take over from the snowdrops and are a sure sign that spring is on the way - despite the odd snowy setback .......................
