Late winter hillside and birchwood

I drove down to Colintraive this morning partly to get the Sunday papers (which is unusual for me these days) and partly to take recycling to the bins and the bottle bank. 

Just as I left the house a heavy snow shower started.  This picture  was taken on the way back with the snow still falling and a layer of white  sett;omg on the hillside above the road.

There is old birch wood here and amongst it there were still green patches and the colours of the undergrowth that has not yet started to grow again. 

The snow showers have continued on and off all day.
