I had the privilege of spending part of my day with a lady who will be 101 years old tomorrow.

She is charming, completely on the ball and living independently. It is amazing to think of what she has lived through - the First World War, The Depression, The Second World War, the first man on the moon...the reigns of George V, Edward VIII, George VI and Queen Elizabeth II....18 different prime ministers including Lloyd George, Neville Chamberlain, Winston Churchill and Anthony Eden....18 American Presidents, amongst them Franklin D Roosevelt, Truman, Eisenhower, Kennedy....

Imagine her life as a child, no fridge, TV, central heating, electric lighting, car, NHS....

But I wonder if she thinks the world is really a better place now.

On my way back I spotted this lovely red creeper growing across a garage door.
