Radio Astronomy
Some members of our local camera club visited the Mullard Radio Astronomy Observatory just outside Cambridge. It was snowing and bitterly cold in the wind however it was a most interesting event. One of club members is a member of the staff involved in the work that goes on on this University site. There were several types of radio telescopes, some now decommissioned and a very large one called MERLIN, belonging to Jodrell Bank - this is extra. The main blip is the obsolete One Mile Telescope - and as the suggests the row of antennas stretch for one mile.
