Highland Safari
I had given my husband a voucher for a Highland Safari for his Christmas and we were booked to use it today. We decided to have a night away so had booked a room in the Schiehallion hotel in Aberfeldy.
After a miserable drive weather wise we arrived to a very warm welcome from all the staff who all seemed to really enjoy their jobs. Our ranger, Colin did warn us that due to the wet and misty conditions we were unlikely to see much wildlife. Unfortunately apart from a couple of roe deer he was right! However as we got higher up the mountain the scene changed to thick snow which was wonderful to be in the midst of. The 6x6 Pinzgauer we were in handled the terrain well albeit very bumpy at times.
We were taken to a bothy where we had tea, shortbread and whisky. It was basic but beautifully decorated with stunning photos and stags antlers on the wall and tweed blankets on all the seats.
On our return to the centre we had a lovely lunch in the cosy cafe. It was cold and wet all afternoon but we still managed to browse in the shops including the Watermill bookshop before we checked in to the hotel.
In the evening we went to the Birks cinema to see 'Finding your feet" which we both enjoyed. We then had a meal in the 'Three Lemons' after which we literally crossed the road, tired but having had a great day.
