One Helvella Mushroom
It's that time of year again and the wierd mushrooms are all starting to come out again.
Mush more room.
This one is Helvella crispa, the common helvella, often missed because it grows under fallen leaves in the autumn.
They are often much more contorted than this, with stems with spaces between the "pillars".
Many ident books, including mine, list them as edible, but wiki says they can cause "severe sporadic intoxication."
Hmmm, sporadic intoxication.
