Birthplace

Today I attended a meeting on the sixth floor of the Chrystal Macmillan Building at Edinburgh University. From here there are great views of the city, including this one with Edinburgh Castle in the distance, and the buildings of the hospital which included my birthplace (undergoing conversion into luxury flats) in the foreground.

Other famous babies of the Simpson Memorial Hospital include Les McKeown, and brothers Alan and Derek Longmuir, of the Bay City Rollers. As you may well imagine, I was very proud of this fact at the height of Rollermania in the mid-1970s.
