Sakura Yume
or 'cherry blossoms dream' is a new immersive exhibit at my favorite little art hole-in-the-wall place, where art is paired off with technology. The new exhibit opened today (right on time for my birthday!) :)
The exhibits change every six weeks, but what characterizes them is their interactive nature: the installations respond to body movement and/or sound in a variety of different ways. Here both the blossoms move and you can produce colored shapes that follow the movement of your arms. In the extra, hovering and moving your hand over the table results in splashes of color and shapes. Pretty cool -- even my husband got into it!
This new exhibit is in honor of Washington DC's famed cherry blossoms (which draw a couple million visitors during full bloom). Currently, full bloom is expected at the end of the month -- but weather's been fickle and that could change :)
